Prospect Park
The Front Runners NY Blue Line Run is a favorite amongst those training for the NYC Marathon. We meet the Front Runners and many other NYC running teams in Prospect Park to run the last 20 miles of the Marathon Course. The route is supposted with water/gel tables and bike escorts. All Paces are welcomed and are numerous. Organized by the Front Runners, we have volunteered to handle the small Bedford Avenue / McCarren Park Water table for participants. You can participate as a runner, or volunteer with us for the water table or to be a Bike Escort.

This year we are helping out the Front Runners awesomely organized marathon training run, the Blue Line Run, by setting up a simple aid station at McCarren Park on Bedford and offering up a couple of Bike Marshals to help runners navigate the turns in Queens. This run represents the last 20-21 miles of the Marathon course and is an important training run for hundreds of runners. The run itself begins at 8am, and will have several pace groups leaving in waves accordingly.
We need:
- (1) ONE Volunteer with a CAR. Details: Volunteer and their car needs to be at the Prospect Park meeting point at 7:45am on 10/21 to operate as a “mobile bag drop”. The car will then go to the designated aid station spot at McCarren Park and stay and help there until the majority of the runners have gone through. They will then drive to Central Park and drop off the bags. (Approx. Time: 7:30am-12:00pm)
- (2-4) TWO to FOUR Volunteers to help set up and work the aid station which will consist of: water, gatorade, gels, and salt. (Approx. Time: 8:00am-11:00am)
- (2) TWO Bike Marshals to help runners navigate the course in Queens. (Approx. Time: 8:45am-11:45am)
We don’t yet have exact timing so the times above are just guesses. We should get more specific details from FRNY soon, so definitely sign up if you’re interested and if you have any particular concerns, please indicate those below.
