A Few FAQs

Hey, how will events be run?
Events will be run in heats seeded by time. All participants must be registered at least 20 minutes prior to the start of their event to allow organizers to seed the event.

I want to run, say, only the co-ed DMR. What time should I show up?
Well, the start time of each event will depend on the amount of heats that are needed. As soon as one event ends, the next event will begin. What we can say for sure is: You should show up at 10:30 am to watch/run the whole day!

Did somebody say prizes?
Still a kid, huh! Good news. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each event. Good prizes. There will also be a raffle after all events of the meet are finished. All prizes provided by our sponsors, listed below!

How do I get to McCarren?
Take the L train to Lorimer, then walk north on Lorimer or Union for 7 blocks to track; or take the G to Nassau, and walk 1 block south on Lorimer to the track.

I have questions.
Please feel free to contact trackmeet@northbrooklynrunners.org with any questions.

Introducing the NBR McCarren Park Track Classic TRIVIA CHALLENGE

Every day until our McCarren Park Track Meet on Saturday, March 9, we’ll post a track-related trivia question here.

NEW: Instead of the first person to answer being the winner, we will collect all correct responses and put them in a hat and draw a winner each day. This is better! And more fair!

Some days there will be two prizes, like Daily Double in Jeopardy. But you won’t know which days are double-prizers because it’s at the whim of the Trivia Masters so you’ll just have to play every day to see. Or bribe the Trivia Masters with very expensive running gear.

Anyone can participate – any team, any club, any age – but you have to be registered for the meet to claim your prize, so register today if you haven’t already!

In addition to good running stuff, prizes may or may not involve homemade baked goods crafted by NBR’s finest. Such items may or may not involve pies and/or Grandma’s recipe cookies. But this is all conjecture.

Email answers to trackmeet@northbrooklynrunners.org, and be sure to include your name. One entry per person per day. We’ll let you win three times but after that you have to stop being so smart and such a hog.

Put your thinking beanies on! We look forward to seeing you at the meet on March 9!

Track Trivia Challenge for MEET DAY, Mar. 9

I guess we can have one last question. How amazing is today’s McCarren Park Classic going to be? Scale of one to one million, one million being the most amazingest.

Email answers to trackmeet@northbrooklynrunners.org, and be sure to include your name. See you at the meet!

The answer to yesterday’s challenge (How old is Haile Gebrselassie?) is … well … all signs point to 39, but does anyone really know the truth, the real truth? We’ll take 39. Congratulations to Darleen Jobson-Larkin, our final track trivia challenge winner!

Thank you to everyone for participating, and thank you especially to Coach James Chu, Brian Calavan, and Ben Nilsestuen, your trivia question creation team. Their deep track knowledge was this trivia challenge’s boon. Thank you also to Sayo Yamagata and Emma Raub, your prize creation team. Their culinary skills are this trivia game’s gain. Thanks for all their work and time!
