NYC Marathon Team Spot Check In: Izzy Revivo
Tell us a little bit about how you came to be involved with NBR. What was your first run? How long have you been involved?
My first NBR Bridge run was probably a decade ago, but in 2018 I met my first Narwals run, and I learned what a long run was :) Before Narwhals, my long runs were 4-6 miles, and now I’m training for my 3rd marathon.
How is marathon training going? Are there any specific workouts that are really moving things along for you? Tell the world a good NBR long-run story.
Marathon training is long and hard and full of highs and lows. One day it feels like I got this "LETS GO!" and the next day it’s like "Are you crazy, why are you doing this"?
Which NBR runs are you attending regularly to train? Are there any NBR members who inspire you to train hard(er)?
Whenever I can (but not when it’s too early lol) I attend Narwhals. This marathon season I added some Monday plyo + mner and Thursday Track. My newest run is the donut run, which I enjoy leading with 3 other great members (plug 1).
Thank you RLs on Narwhals and Thur Track; training and running with them makes me a better runner. Special thanks to Lou (foulox) who introduced me to NBR and keeps me motivated.
What does it mean to be chosen by your peers for a coveted NBR marathon team spot?
This is a fantastic club with amazing people. I am proud to be part of this team and wear my NBR gear even when I’m not running... did you know that NBR sells T-shirts, Hoodies, and other non-running gear (plug 2, not just because I want it out of my basement but because the Hoodie is my favorite sweatshirt).
What do you plan on eating post-marathon? What about the night before?
Pasta before Pizza after.
What inspires and motivates you to run this year's NYC marathon?
Family, Friends, and of course NBR, I am looking forward to seeing my wife and kids with their Izzy hats, and face socks on!! Then running by the NBR water table for the best cheers in NYC!
In your head, what animal (real or fictional) do you think you most resemble when you're running?
In my head, I want to picture a gazelle but in reality, something like a lost puppy.
