NBR Official Statement COVID-19

Dear team,

It has become apparent that COVID-19 is a larger risk to our community than it was even just a few days ago, and this risk is only growing. As your Board, our aim is to protect our volunteers and runners at all costs. Thus, as a measure of precaution, we will be cancelling all official NBR runs and events, starting tonight, on March 12, 2020. We hope this will not be the case for long, and are monitoring the situation closely and carefully—as a board, we plan to reassess as soon as next week. l will be sharing regular updates with you on this front as things develop.

I realize that this news is disappointing to a lot of you, and that many runners will want to self-organize (at your own risk). If you decide to, I encourage you to do so off-list; and if you must convene, please do so among small groups to prevent the spread of the virus. As ever, we will be continuing to follow guidance from the CDC, New York State and City Health Departments, and the Mayor and Governor's offices.
