February Runner of the Month: Brandon Lee

Brandon first joined NBR in January 2020, only getting to run with the group a few more times before COVID lockdown started. In his words, “I joined NBR to run with a group and to get batter at running.” Brandon used to be one of our Monday Night Plyo Leaders and is an integral part of our Gear team! Speaking of gear… check out our store to get your NBR merch!

How did you initially get into running?
I ran a few NYRR races and realized I was close to getting guaranteed entry into the NYC Marathon through the 9+1 program. At that time, I had only run a few 5K's and corporate challenges.

Ultimately signed up for the NYC Marathon and realized how underprepared I was for the race. I then decided to join a run club (NBR) to get better.

What is your favorite race distance?
Half Marathon. Long enough to feel challenged, but short enough so my spirit doesn't break (haven't figured out the marathon yet!).

Best running memory?
Running the OSR Midnight Half. Fun, unsanctioned race between Brooklyn and lower Manhattan.

Favorite running route in NYC?
Central Park Loop or Prospect Park Loop. Uninterrupted loops with hills!

Favorite post-race food?
Pizza! I like to end my runs at pizza shops, especially ones in different neighborhoods.

Best advice to running newbies?
Have fun. Achieving your running goals are great, but enjoying the journey and sharing moments with friends along the way are what make running fun.
