Run a spring marathon with NBR teammates!

Grandma's Marathon is billed as a world-class event (10th largest marathon in the country) with small town charm, attracting thousands of runners from across the region and beyond. The course runs along a quiet and scenic route beside Lake Superior and ends with throngs of enthusiastic crowds pushing you to a finish line in Duluth.

North Brooklyn Runners ran it last year with 21 teammates - go read Thomas Kelsey’s fantastic race recap HERE - and we’re looking for another strong showing this year!

Lodging

Grandma’s lists multiple hotels on their site, but they are relatively expensive and fill up quickly (some units are only available by phone). Around January or February, Grandma’s Marathon will send out details about cheap campus lodging so keep an eye out.

If you have a car and are willing to drive 45 minutes to an hour, there’s plenty of cheaper lodging in nearby towns. You can also try coordinating lodging on the spreadsheet or in the WhatsApp group.

Getting to Duluth

The nearest airport is in Minneapolis (MSP) and is a 2-hour drive from Duluth, MN.

Race Expo & Packet Pickup

The race expo is held at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (Google Maps Link) and you can pick up during the hours below. Note that there is no bib pickup on race morning.

Thursday, 6/20: 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m

Friday, 6/21: 10 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Getting to the Start Line

Grandma’s Marathon operates multiple buses from around the Duluth / Superior area that will take you to the start line, which is further up the lake (the race is point to point).
