September Runner of the Month: Drew Reynolds
Drew first joined NBR in June of 2015 after running Hellkatz with Marie Barnett. He is a very dedicated member of our club, being a Tigerwolves Run Leader, as well as frequently placing in his age group while crushing his PRs. Recently, Drew has created the NBR Portrait Project that has been displayed at Mile 12 of the New York City Marathon for the last 2 years. This project has highlighted members of our club that are participating in the marathon that year; you can view photos from that project here.
What do you do when you're not running?
I love to rock climb in the gym with my partner, Anna Spinner. Anytime we can get outside & climb real rock is a treat. I also love biking around scouting locations for photos.
How did you initially get into running?
To lose weight and to get healthy.
What is your favorite race distance?
Marathon
Best running memory?
2019 Chicago Marathon. To PR at my hometown marathon with my marathon training buddy, Finn Bell was completely surreal. It was a perfect day, and everything just fell into place.
Favorite running route in NYC?
CAROUSELING > AM Run to Jane’s Carousel in DUMBO is my best way to start the week. It’s flat & the views are spectacular.
Any running-related superstitions?
I have all my NBR gear on green hangers.
Favorite post-race food?
Beer in the shower AKA SHOWER BEER! Also the PB&J doughnut at Dun Well is a 10
Favorite song to run to make you want to run?
Right now it’s Morning Glory by Oasis, which is strange because I’m not a fan of their music, but I’ve been running with two lads early on Saturday morning from different teams and it just makes me think of that song. Now it’s stuck in my head again…. THAAAAANKS! ;)
Favorite running social media account?
@cieleathletics - their photography is inspirational, shout out to @geoffreyknott, & they make the best caps on the planet. I have too many of them.
What do you think is the worst part about being a runner?
Injuries are the worst. Anything that keeps you off the roads
Best advice to running newbies?
Build a base in mileage & if you want to get faster, run with faster runners.
Current running goal?
To race again.
